There were 5466 people registered in Huon Valley at the time of enlistments. 564 were enlisted, representing over 10% of the population. During the Great war 111 people were killed - which represents almost 20% of those enlisted.

Awards and Decorations
By the end of The Great War there were 9 Victoria Crosses awarded to Australian Soldiers for acts of extreme bravery. Of those nine soldiers, three of those awarded the VC were soldiers that came from the Huon.
